Bringing diversity to vibrant life in London
In 2022, Sage's London office held a series of events hosted by the UK Culture Collective, Employee Resource Groups, and DEI office to foster openness and celebrate the richness and diversity of cultures from around the world. These events included celebrations of the Lunar New Year, Eid, Pride, and Diversity Fest, and provided employees with opportunities to learn and engage with each other.
Our London-based celebrations opened many doors to allow all cultures and identities to learn from, and about, each other.
The Lunar New Year celebration, which kicked off the DEI events, was a big hit. The UK Culture Collective shared a short video about Chinese New Year, followed by a quiz that tested employees' knowledge of the festival.
At the end of Ramadan, the UK Culture Collective hosted an Eid lunch. Colleagues discussed the significance of fasting, traditions, and the unique dishes eaten by Muslims around the world when breaking their daily fast during the month.
In June, the London office hosted a day of Pride celebrations, organized by the UK LGBTQIA+ ERG, and featuring fun events such as a pop-up cinema showing a range of LGBTQIA+ cinema favorites, rainbow cupcakes and face painting.
Diversity Fest, held in October, celebrated Global Diversity Awareness Month and showcased cultures from around the world. Over 150 employees participated in various activities organized by employee-led groups, such as Bollywood dance, Tai Chi, and meditation sessions. They also connected with Sage's global offices in virtual coffee meetups and enjoyed a diverse selection of food.
Other events included the Culture Collective's Pride quiz, a Social Justice Discussion Group session on LGBTQIA+ and Religion, and a virtual Pride Panel on "Expressions of LGBTQIA+ joy."
These events allowed employees to learn, grow, and engage with each other on important topics related to DEI while building a culture of respect and collaboration where everyone can thrive and succeed.
